Research Areas
I’m Eric Mason, an MD/Ph.D. student in Human-Computer Interaction passionate about designing technology that empowers patients, supports clinicians, and builds trust in healthcare. My research bridges human-centered design, AI, and health literacy to make medical information clearer, more equitable, and more actionable. My research has a particular focus on including communities historically excluded from quality care. I also co-design AI tools that reduce clinician cognitive load and support decision-making in primary care and dermatology.
I hold a B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University, where I focused on engineering research and community building. My work has spanned optimizing brain tumor therapies, developing AI-driven tools for sepsis care, and leading community-based projects on structural health barriers in Chicago. I also founded the Tag You’re It Scholar Program, which focuses on mentoring Black youth toward college success.
My research passions are grounded in lived experiences of homelessness and deep ties to the communities I serve. Outside of research, I train for Hyrox, love cooking, and enjoy music (EDM, RnB, etc.)
