Hong Delivers Keynote Address at ICISSP 2016

News

HCII Associate Professor Jason Hong delivered the keynote address at the 2nd International Conference on Information Systems Security and Privacy last month in Rome. Held annually, ICISSP aims to create a meeting point for researchers and practitioners to address security and privacy challenges that concern information systems, especially in organizations, including both technological and social issues.

Hong's address, "Privacy, Ethics and Big Data," discussed challenges presented by a world where our smartphones know nearly everything about us. His talk covered issues like who gains from these systems, whose data will or will not be used, and how an application's behavior can better be conveyed to the user. He also discussed designing better systems for privacy, ranging from systems architectures to user interfaces and policy.
