Vivian Shen

Vivian Shen is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University, and also has a courtesy appointment in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at CMU. She leads the Interactive Experiences and Entertainment (IXE) Lab, which studies multimodal input and output including novel haptic interaction and sensing devices to create immersive entertainment experiences. Vivian publishes in premier HCI venues including UIST and CHI, and her research has been featured by the media such as NBC Nightly News, CNN, TechCrunch, and more. Previously, Vivian got her PhD in Computer Science from the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University, and a BS in Computer Science from Columbia University.
