CUPS Lab looking for student programmers

The CUPS lab is looking for student programmers with experience in the Ruby, Perl, or Python scripting languages to work 10–20 hours a week on multiple projects in our lab. The ideal candidate should have strong web programming skills, preferably in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, HTML, and Javascript. Knowledge in security and privacy is desirable but not required.

The Human Computer Interaction Graduate Program at Iowa State University hosts a summer Undergraduate Research Experience, sponsored by the National Science Foundation. This is a ten week internship where students take short courses in HCI and work in interdisciplinary teams on research projects. Housing and meals are provided, as well as a $4500 stipend.

Our project, within the Robotics Institute, is focused on quantifying and understanding user trust in robots when trying to complete a task. The long term goal is to estimate the user’s level of trust in real time so the robot will be able to adjust its interaction accordingly.
