A surprising number of Android and iPhone apps have behaviors close to spyware. We have two separate projects here.

One is to combine automated scanning techniques with human crowdsourcing, to understand the behavior of Android apps and summarize the privacy and security behaviors of those apps.

We’re looking for people with skills in Android programming to help here.

Steven Dow

spdow@cs.cmu.edu
Pay type:
Either pay or credit.

Designers and engineers explore examples to learn key domain principles, to get inspiration, and to understand what worked in the past. However, we lack a foundational understanding of how prior examples should be structured and presented to designers throughout a design process. To test specific theories about design examples, we are conducting a series of controlled experiments.

Help to build the next generation of online interfaces for people to consume and share information. 70 billion hours a year are spent on people making sense of information for themselves (e.g., what digital camera to buy?) but all of that time is wasted since no one else benefits from it.
