The delivered prototype design followed several design themes, inspired by research findings, including:

• Reduction in visual clutter
• Improve efficiency
• Communication support
• Worklists and search

The CMU team provided GE Healthcare with a design guide illustrating all designed components and explaining design rationale, as well as an interactive prototype (developed in C# with Microsoft Expression Blend) to further communicate their design vision and interactions. The prototype was designed for the standard 3-monitor PACS configuration and utilized keyboard and mouse input.
