Ideation
After spending months on research and developing the contextual design models, the CMU team began the more creative segment of the project with ideation. The ideation phase began with the group revisiting the contextual models to "walk through" the data. This process has proven successful in brainstorming sessions, as it allows the group to immerse themselves in the the users’ workflow and re-envision the system as driven from the actual work practices.
Following the model walk through, the team began exporing ideas and sketching interface concepts. While one to two weeks were dedicated to pure ideation, this phase extended throughout the rest of the project as the design evolved.
