Prototypes
To better coordinate with the development team at GE Healthcare, the CMU team decided to build their prototype in Microsoft Expression Blend. Since this tool was new to the group, development of the final interactive prototype was extremely more time consuming than originally planned.
Due to the long development time, the prototypes developed for user testing were primarily paper-based. This worked out very well, as all of the user tests involved extensive travel and the system's unique hardware setup (one regular display accompanied by two large portrait monitors) made bringing the system to remote locations a challenge. The team was able to be more flexible with user testing locations and timing since the only materials needed were paper.
