Carnegie Learning Assistment Interface

Working Prototype V.0

The goal of this prototype is to provide teachers with the big idea in terms of class performance in a visual way. Employing interaction techniques such as brushing and sliders, and visualizations such as graphical representations of data such as charts, teachers can get a better sense of the big picture information more quickly, and then quickly narrow down their range of focus.

As our first database driven, working prototype, v.0 was tested with teachers in Massachusetts, in cooperation with the researchers at WPI. We caution that usability of the interface was not the main area of exploration, instead this was a test of the visualization techniques as a way for teaches to interpret their student's data. Below are screen shots with annotations from Massachusetts teachers, and some design ideas relating to improvement.
